Refugee Family Sponsorship

B.R.P. is committing to being a sponsor for a refugee family. Much is unknown – what country they come from, how many in the family, whether they speak any English at all. These are things we will find out two weeks before they arrive. What we do know is that all refugees have had to leave behind everything of importance to them: home, family, friends, possessions, livelihood. They have faced trauma and loss – some more than others.  We will act as friend and guide to those just arrived in the U.S. We will try to meet any need as it arises and to help them adjust to our culture.  Kentucky Refugee Ministries does so much of the
work: finding the apartment, setting up English classes, finding jobs, etc. Our job is to furnish the apartment, pay rent and utilities for three months, provide initial food and startup clothing, provide transportation and BE THERE FOR THEM!  You may not feel that you can help physically or financially, but you will know what is happening and your prayers are important.

God is calling us to “welcome the stranger.”  May all of our efforts be blessed.
